Empowering the Community: LACER's #JUAraN Voter's Education Campaign for the Upcoming Barangay and SK Elections

As the Philippines gears up for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections on October 30, 2023, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has set the official election period from August 28 to November 29, 2023. This crucial democratic event provides citizens with the opportunity to select local leaders who will represent their interests at the community level. Ensuring an informed and engaged electorate is of utmost importance, and in line with this mission, the Lipa Archdiocesan Council for Electoral Reforms (LACER) has launched the Voter's Education campaign, #JUAraN.
The #JUAraN Campaign
#JUAraN, a voter's education campaign initiated by LACER, is a rallying call for the Lipa community to participate actively in the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections. This campaign has three main objectives:
1. Increased Voter Participation: One of the primary goals of #JUAraN is to encourage more citizens to exercise their right to vote. By raising awareness about the importance of participating in the electoral process, the campaign aims to boost voter turnout and civic engagement.
2. Informed Voting: Informed voting is at the heart of a healthy democracy. #JUAraN seeks to provide help for voters to assess essential information about the candidates, their platforms, and the election process itself. In doing so, it empowers voters to make well-informed choices on election day.
3. Enhanced Civic Engagement: Civic engagement goes beyond casting a vote. It involves active participation in community affairs and staying informed about local issues. #JUAraN encourages citizens to become more engaged in their communities, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership over the collective welfare.
Inclusivity and Collaboration
The #JUAraN campaign is an inclusive initiative open to all schools and parishes in the Lipa Archdiocese. By collaborating with educational institutions and religious organizations, the campaign aims to reach a broad and diverse audience, ensuring that its objectives are met.
The Barangay and SK Elections are a fundamental aspect of democratic life in the Philippines, allowing communities to choose leaders who will represent their interests and needs. In this crucial period leading up to the elections, the #JUAraN Voter's Education campaign, spearheaded by the Lipa Archdiocesan Council for Electoral Reforms, seeks to empower the Lipa community by increasing voter participation, promoting informed voting, and enhancing civic engagement. By working together, the campaign aims to contribute to a more informed, engaged, and participatory electorate, which is essential for the thriving of a healthy democracy. Let's all join hands and make our voices heard in the upcoming elections.
