Strengthening Ties and Expanding Mission: Archbishop Gilbert Garcera’s Visit to Malta
From October 31 to November 4, 2024, Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa, together with Fr. Jayson T. Siapco and Fr. Luis Manuel Lucero, embarked on a meaningful visit to Malta to deepen the bond between the Archdiocese of Lipa and the Society of Christian Doctrine (SDC). This visit, following a familiarization trip of four SDC members to Lipa earlier this year, focused on preparations for the new SDC Centre, set to open in Lipa by January 2025.
Archbishop Garcera had the chance to engage with the SDC General Executive Council and connect with many SDC members, including those preparing to relocate to Lipa. During a gathering with SDC Candidates, the Archbishop shared insights into Filipino culture and reflected on the mission to bring St. George Preca’s vision to Asia.
Archbishop Garcera’s visit concluded with a heartfelt Mass, where he emphasized the significance of this mission. In a touching gesture of support, the SDC, through Superior General Roberto Zammit, donated 2,000 euros for the ongoing recovery efforts of KristinePH-affected communities in Batangas.
