I am stronger than any waves: A Jayron Story
An eleven-year-old child stands alone after the storm, swept into and carried away by sorrow and loss. The floodwaters of Typhoon #KristinePH tore through their world with fierce destructive power, taking the home but also taking some lives—parents, siblings, even a dear old grandfather. What once was full of love and safety lies in ruins, replaced by memories of warm embraces, soothing lullabies, and laughter that have given way to silence. With every heavy drop of rain that pounded on their roof, another part of their world crumbled, taking with it their memories of a life.
The only hope of the child is that perhaps they may find the remains of their loved ones so they will be given that last, dignified farewell. Only then, perhaps, can the souls whom he loved rest in peace, nestled in the arms of the Lord. But though the road to be walked may be paved with sorrow, still he clings to the hope that one day, each fallen tear shall become a seed of hope, a step toward a new beginning.
Amidst the tragedy, however, stands a glimmer of new life. Kind souls stand up and begin reaching out with open hands: Compassion can transform the debris of disaster into something that gives strength. And so, every act of generosity reassures the child that they don't stand there—alone; or at least, that there is enough love in this flooded world for its creatures even during its worst moments. And perhaps, just perhaps, this love will sustain them through—restoring a life from the waves, finding hope that reaches beyond the heavens.
